I’m holding a Money Honey video contest. Want to help me set the rules?

I think it’d be a heckuva lot of fun to ask clients, customers, and readers to share their “how I made money fall in love with me” stories on video. (One lady’s “Money Honey” looks like a Scottish Laird!)  I want videos to be judged on entertainment value, inspiration value, or cash value. I think I may even have an award for each of those categories.

Each winner will get something cool, like my new $500 product. The grand prize winner gets a VIP half day with me.

Now for the rules…

  • Do people get to vote only once?
  • Do they get to vote for each category? (Can they vote for the same video for each category?)
  • Do they vote for their top three faves, regardless of category?
  • Does voting begin when all the videos have been submitted?
  • How much time should I give people to record and submit their (3 to 5 minute) videos? Three weeks?
  • Do contestants and voters get to see how many votes each video is receiving? Cause I’m ultimately going to decide who wins the grand prize…

    Hi Morgana,
    Sounds like you have a fun idea!
    I would say people only get to vote once and they select the very best regardless of category (the one that really gets our attention for all the reasons you mentioned above).This keeps it simple!
    And how about 2 weeks to do it?
    I don’t think you should share the votes if you are ultimately choosing but it will be really good for you to know what we really like and really fun to see what you choose :)

    Not officially, no. My web guy (and I) have been out of town a lot this month.

    That said, shoot your video NOW, so you get more exposure when I open the contest!
