What are you apologizing for?

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

This weekend I was in Washington State, giving the keynote address (two hours!) to over 200 hundred women at the third annual “Women’s Day of Empowerment” in Olympia, Washington.

What an amazing experience!!!

I met women–coaches, healers, artists, marketers, bankers, broadcasters–I hope to know forever.

And I got to spend time with one of my dearest friends, Nancy Juetten, the author of “Bye-bye Boring Bio.”

She’s one of the sweetest, smartest, most successful women I know.

Truly one of the world’s leading experts on writing a sizzling bio that attract clients, cash, and media attention.

But I noticed she her doing something–something we ALL do–that wasn’t serving her at all.

She allowed me to share her (former!) mistake with you here. (BTW… she’s so OVER it!)

What was her big mistake? Watch today’s short video to find out!

By the way… Nancy’s world famous “Broadcast Your Brilliance” Webinar series
starts OCTOBER 5!

You know me: I LOVE to give advice! And I really went off on this one. A life coach shared that she’d be speaking at her first symposium and she wanted advice.  This is what I wrote.

This is how you take me home...

This is how you take me home...

“If you want to help people, you must have a product! Give people an opportunity to try you out, take you home, and get comfortable with you before deciding they want something more.

Treat your business like internet dating.
Seeing you talk or seeing your booth is like checking out your profile. Buying your CD is like meeting for coffee or having a few dates. Hiring you is like moving in together. Don’t rush the process.

“How do you attract money when you NEED it?”

Monday, January 17th, 2011

flying-moneyHere’s the question that came in:

How do you attract money when you really, really “need” it (as in, you could lose your home if it doesn’t come quickly)….as opposed to just desiring more? My understanding is “need” represents “lack” and then you get more “lack”….but when the need is quite serious, what do you do?

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say sometimes you really, really need money, and you NEED it quickly! To pretend everything’s cool–when your house is about to go on the block–is insane.

Burning Question: How Do I Get Paid For My Gifts?

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Here’s the full question:

“I came from a background that doesn’t value the gifts that I have developed. How can I learn to value my spiritual, creative and emotional gifts enough to feel that they are worth being paid for? If I don’t value them and see them as marketable, who will?”

Great question!

Here’s what I say a thousand times to my clients: how you vote on your value from one minute to the next is not reliable or even useful.

You don’t want to set your fees based on your mood or self esteem on a particular day. When in doubt look at yourself and your gifts through your Money Honey’s eyes. He (or she) will ALWAYS see your best, and that’s how to value yourself.
