Max’s letter came into my inbox this morning. Max Simon is my friend (and my coach). I’ve been inspired by how he’s been responding to a very challenging personal situation, and how it’s motivating him to serve his ideals…

So I decided to share his story and invitation with you in his own words. And maybe I’ll see you in October.

Here’s a very personal
story for you…

My father is Dr. David Simon.

- He’s a world-renowned M.D.

- A pioneer of mind-body
medicine

- A best-selling author

- The co-founder of The
Chopra Center for Well-Being
with Deepak Chopra.

And a few months ago,
he self-diagnosed his own
very aggressive brain cancer.

Whoa.

To respond to this unexpected and bizarre circumstance…

…I picked up my entire business (and life), immediately moved down to San Diego to be close to him and my family (I have two little half-sisters who are 8 and 12), and have
since been spending time with him every day…

… contemplating the meaning of life, what we’re here to do on the planet, and what really matters most.

And you know what?

I’ve realized that only a few things really do matter.

1. You’re doing what you love.

2. You’re genuinely helping other people.

3. You’re taking every opportunity to celebrate the simple fact that you’re still alive, because it’s amazing how fast life can be taken away from you.

Obviously, none of this is new…right?

… Yet I think we can both agree that most of the world has not figured how to LIVE these principles day in and day out…

… Especially when it comes to business.

And that’s because we have SO MANY poor models of entrepreneurs who are simply doing it wrong.

** They are doing way too many things all at once and lack focus (and guess what, it’s impossible to love what you do if you’re scattered and crazy)…

** They want to help others but they can’t seem get out of their own endless cycle of struggle.

** They have a difficult time celebrating because of the anxiety and stress of trying to run an un-successful business.

And what’s worse, many
have lost sight of who they
really are and what they
really stand for…

… Which is so easy to do when you’re being told by the “marketing gurus” who you need to be.

So why am I sharing this with you?

Because first off, I think it’s important to step back and have these conversations.

… Spending time with my father as he goes through this has helped me realize that simply talking about this stuff is useful.

“Hi Morgana!

I had an AHA moment today with my money honey.

The thought that popped into my head recently was “I am never getting paid again” – meaning that I was letting go of the mentality of “getting paid” for something – and that what was really at the heart of the transaction of currency was really my relationship with money – that all that matters really is how am I and money doing?

And how can I make money happy, and feel loved and connected – and that is the thing that is the focal point – not whether or not I am “getting paid” for something – it’s really “is money feeling loved by this transaction or not?”

It feels deeply liberating to live this way – the stress of trying to “get paid” is actually a similar kind of stress of trying to “get laid” – there is an objectification that happens with that that’s not only stressful but does not stress relationship or intimacy and no one ends up deeply fulfilled.
