I spoke with you yesterday on a complimentary strategy session call, and I am writing to just say thank you for offering your time and lending an ear to hear my story. It truly meant a lot to me. I cannot over-emphasize how powerfully my Money Honey has appeared to me. After hanging up from our conversation I was overwhelmed by “something” for some reason! My eyes teared up, I felt all shaky and giddy, and I felt that this process, this work, is tremendously important to me, for more than just the *money*. Right? Right! I don’t know what yet, but I trust that it will all unfold accordingly. It still feels quite strange to associate money with a person. Part of me is telling me that I’m crazy, while the deeper, wiser part of me says “Don’t listen to her. She has no idea what she’s talking about!” And it really DOES feel like a new romance- woweee! I love him and would do anything for him. I guess that’s the idea, huh?

Here’s the question I got in my email:

“Are some life paths predestined to have money troubles – for money to be elusive and unattainable? Karma is something many of us believe in. If so, how can this work – these tools – work?”

Let’s get real for a second. I just spoke at a fundraiser for orphaned and abandoned children in Baja Mexico. Washing machines and refrigerators are new additions to the orphanage. These kids were not dealt the easiest hand.

This is exactly why we NEED tools! Learning to read made Oprah Winfrey into Oprah Winfrey, Inc.   She discovered a new world through reading books as a child.  Tools change “Karma.”

Let’s talk about Karma for a second, shall we? (I was a Religion scholar in college, specializing in Asian religion, so I KNOW Karma!)  Most people talk about two kinds of Karma.  Door #1 is the “I hope you rot in hell, Bernie Madoff!” Karma.  Door #2 is “doomed by decree” Karma.  Either you’re hoping to punish or you’re feeling punished.  Neither option is going to get you what you really want.

I think it’d be a heckuva lot of fun to ask clients, customers, and readers to share their “how I made money fall in love with me” stories on video. (One lady’s “Money Honey” looks like a Scottish Laird!)  I want videos to be judged on entertainment value, inspiration value, or cash value. I think I may even have an award for each of those categories.

Each winner will get something cool, like my new $500 product. The grand prize winner gets a VIP half day with me.

Now for the rules…

• Do people get to vote only once?

• Do they get to vote for each category? (Can they vote for the same video for each category?)

• Do they vote for their top three faves, regardless of category?

• Does voting begin when all the videos have been submitted?

• How much time should I give people to record and submit their (3 to 5 minute) videos? Three weeks?

• Do contestants and voters get to see how many votes each video is receiving? Cause I’m ultimately going to decide who wins the grand prize…

I had an AHA moment today with my money honey.

The thought that popped into my head recently was “I am never getting paid again” – meaning that I was letting go of the mentality of “getting paid” for something – and that what was really at the heart of the transaction of currency was really my relationship with money – that all that matters really is how am I and money doing?

And how can I make money happy, and feel loved and connected – and that is the thing that is the focal point – not whether or not I am “getting paid” for something – it’s really “is money feeling loved by this transaction or not?”

It feels deeply liberating to live this way – the stress of trying to “get paid” is actually a similar kind of stress of trying to “get laid” – there is an objectification that happens with that that’s not only stressful but does not stress relationship or intimacy and no one ends up deeply fulfilled.

“When your LOCAL competition is offering services for a lower price than you had planned, which is in line with the industry nationwide, do you go ahead and stick with your pricing rather than lowering it?”
