Morgana’s New Year Renewal Ritual
Did ya hear about the planets? This Thursday December 31 will see a Blue Moon (the second full moon in one month) a Lunar Eclipse (the sun and moon battle it out for visibility in the morning) and the eve of a new year. What does all that mean?
My astrologer friend Ton Pascal says this is going to be (for the astrologically inclined) bigger than a supernova for setting intentions.I’m always looking for an excuse to give intentions a little extra oomph, so read his post HERE.
Moon in Cancer’s good for intuition. Sun in Capricorn is good for common sense. Knock yourself out.
What do you do with this stellar line up? Check out my annual RENEWAL RITUAL exercise. This process has been POWERFUL and MAGICAL in my own life.
The New Year is a great opportunity to chuck out what isn’t working and invite in the good stuff. Here’s how the game is played…
- If you could make just one change in your life, what would it be?
- What is in the way of what you want?
- Are you ready to give up what is in the way?
Now’s the time, Baby!
Morgana’s Special Renewal Ritual
1) Write down a lesson that you are ready to release.
You know what I’m talking about–that thing you’ve been struggling with waaaay too long. Debt, illness, loneliness, abuse, struggle, whatever. You could write a book on the problem. Got whatever there was to learn there? Great. Offer it up to the heavens, kid. It’ll make great Cosmic Compost.
This is an excellent moment to call in the deity of your choice — Christ, Yahweh, Allah, Siva, Zeus, Yamaya, Buddha, Kali, Isis, Hermes, Lugh, Chronos, the Powers That Be — and offer it up as a New Year’s gift.
I usually say something like, “Hey ____. If you’re not to0 busy, and if it’s for the highest good for all involved, I’d really appreciate it if you’d accept this sacrifice and TAKE IT AWAY! Thanks. Love ya.”
2) Burn or flush that piece of paper with the old lesson.
3) Next, request a new lesson you want in its place, so as not to leave a vacuum.
You may want to request the lesson of full vitality, self love, prosperity, courage, or full employment, so that you can take the lessons you’ve already learned and go out and fully realize your potential in the world.
But there’s a caveat: understand that it’s a LESSON. If you’ve been sick all your life, giving up that identity as the sick person is going to bring up some grief. It’s going to be an adjustment! There’s going to be a learning curve. Things may happen that you don’t expect, so choose responsibly. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Here’s how I request my new lesson: “While I’ve got you on the line, I’d really like the lesson of ____ in place of the old one. If you’re not too busy and all that. Thanks!”
4) Then (and this is important) make it physical.
Drink some great champagne or eat some chocolate cake or juicy fruit or something truly delicious and affirm in your heart that you are accepting the new lesson with every sip and bite. Accept it into your body, your very cells, and have a party!
“Then peace will guide the planets, and love will steer the stars!”

I love the way you really cut to the chase without being disrespectful.
There sure are a few lessons I’d like to release. I’ll certainly give this a try. My Money Honey likes it ; )

Mmmmmm, beautiful food for thought and spirit, Morgana! I so enjoy spending the week between Christmas to New Year’s to take inventory of the year’s events month by month, the accomplishments, all the challenges and how I met them…to make ammends with myself for any short-comings and to set my intention for the clean slate of a brand new year ahead. I love to pick a word to ‘live into’ for the coming year, and gaze upon my goals of the past year and re-create them anew, usually with a vision board. I will be embracing like-minded friends and family to join in the fun, probably with a midnight hike in the snow or a polar bear dip in the lake under the stars. Your ritual excites me, especially about eating a delicious piece of fruit (I’m already planning exotic delicasies of pommegranate, dragonfruit and durian) to anchor the new lesson into my cells. And when I do it, I will be thinking of you Beauty, and sending a warm hug. Blissful Bestowings xo

Is it okay if I ask to have more than one old lesson taken away and replaced with new lessons?

Yes. Just don’t creative a shopping list: the more simple and focused, the more powerful.

When I started to pray to Laxmi my money matters began to improve. Deity matters!

No wonder! Lakshmi is the Goddess of Abundance. You’re the third person I’ve heard from who’s had good results with her. She’s one of my favorite goddesses.
