wizards in training

wizards in training

Last weekend I led my Financial Alchemy coach training at the Sofitel in Beverly Hills. Wow! What a blast! I set the humble intention that this would be the BEST course my coaches had ever taken. Only nine more weeks of training to go! (And then a year of mentoring too.) But really, it’s a lifetime relationship, isn’t it?

The 2009 class is called THE WIZARDS, so we had wizard hats, wands, magical money drawing soaps/baths/candles and chocolate coins, of course. (Euros–they’re worth more.) Stay tuned for a video clip of the Financial Alchemy Solid Gold Dancers doing the “Money Dance.”

Next week I’m flying to Australia. That is so freakin far away! Now I get to test just how portable my coaching practice is. I even have a 7″ laptop for travel. Let’s see what it’s like to coach from the other side of the world!

If you live in Sydney, drop me a line. And maybe I’ll get to Melbourne too. You never know.

Why I’m spoiled.

Here’s a note I received from one of my students on Thursday, just four days after our training began:
“Just wanted to share some magic with you. After the training I had a voicemail message from my sister-in- law telling me she has a client for me. I met with this person yesterday, and after asking my money honey, I decided that I would raise my rates. I met with her in strategy session style, did not blink when I told her my fees, and she excitedly signed up on the spot, paying for three months in advance! Talk about your unexpected money! AND she is exactly the type of client I want to work with.”
N.W.

The same day I went to the post office and picked up this card:
“A million thanks for the Fear Buster class. It rocked, and couldn’t have been better timing. I purchased the Financial Alchemy workbook awhile ago and didn’t follow through. Now I am so ready. I really dig the Limiting Belief Obliterator! Especially how it speaks to the unconscious mind — I feel stuff hides there. Magic! Alchemy is magic and you bring it. Thank you for shining your magic.”
J.A.

And I received this Wednesday from another coaching student:
“First of all I have to tell you my exciting news of money that came my way unexpectedly yesterday. I was back at work and there was a cheque for $550.00 waiting for me – THAT I WASN’T EXPECTING!!! It was some insurance money.”
V.G.

Isn’t it obvious why I’m a coach? I sure didn’t get this kind of feedback when I was working in an investment bank, or acting on low budget films! Everybody should become a (Financial Alchemy) coach. It’s the happiest job on earth.

And it’s not just me. A student sent me this email:
“You had suggested to the class that we could do a workshop around the whole area of the THEME for the new year exercise you taught us — well I facilitated it last Thursday it was awesome. I did the fire ceremony as well added some little things. The next day many called me and said that they received calls and opportunities that they were amazed at!”

Top Five Ways to be Unforgettable

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix

We all face occasions when we want to make a lasting impression. (I’m not talking a Tonya Harding kind of lasting impression.) Whether you are  applying for a job, making new friends, building your client base, or looking for a date, you need to separate yourself from the crowd.

How to be Unforgettable:

1) Establish relationship first. Listen, be curious, be genuinely caring. Focus on the other person instead of yourself. Who is this person? This is how you establish relationship.

2) Identify the needs of this other person. How can you serve this person? Your partner will wake up for station WIFM (What’s In it For Me).

3) Be authentic. Don’t pretend to be interested. Don’t pretend to care. You won’t fool a soul. And no one wants to be around a fake. Meanwhile, the more you are authentically interested and authentically care about the people you meet, the more you’ll find yourself meeting wonderful people!

4) Don’t be your job. When someone says “tell me about yourself” what do you say? Cause EVERYBODY will answer the “tell me about yourself” with what they are working on, will be working on, or were working on. Snore. Be able to share at least three concise and  memorable things about yourself that have nothing to do with your business. These things may be humorous or dramatic, but they reveal something about who you are as a person. If you have a zinger like “I smoked pot with Jimi Hendrix,” or “I taught blackjack to a bunch of orphans in Cambodia,” do you think your questioner will forget that–or you–any time soon?

See how authentic you can be.

5) Finally, have a point to what you share. Pick your story with your audience in mind, and tell your questioner what your share says about you.

For instance, during my teleseminars I sometimes share that I was hit by a car, thrown into a coma, had a severe head injury when I awoke, and spent my last semester of high school homeless and sleeping on a friend’s floor. And I graduated with honors and went to a top college.  What this says about me is I know how to do whatever it takes to achieve a goal, even when life is really hard. It’s also why I focus on making people’s lives more effortless and pain free. I think struggle is overrated, and we don’t need to seek it out

A quick recap to help make things “just happen” for you:

Build relationship by authentically focusing on the other person and his needs.

Be a real person, not your job.

Take a look at the stories that reveal who you are and set yourself apart. (Learn how to weave them in organically, at the right moments in a conversation or presentation.)

Have a purpose to what you share.

Fear Buster Teleclass Tuesday

“All we have to fear is fear itself.”

I don’t think I understood this when I first heard it. But I couldn’t imagine our country facing those circumstances again, so it didn’t seem relevant.

Now I understand it:
Fear is the biggest obstacle to our resilience and recovery. While I hope our new president will restore confidence in the economy, recovery begins at home.

If I’ve learned anything over my years changing people’s inner relationship with money, it’s that there is a HUGE correlation between mindset and manifestation. My nation’s mindset is on a major downward spiral. Just turn on the radio.

Let’s turn this around. Join me and my Financial Alchemy coaches THIS TUESDAY, January 13, at 5pm pacific time.

What is your #1 burning question about freeing yourself from the fear that stops you?

My coaches and I will answer your questions Tuesday. To send me your questions I need you to

Fear Buster 2009

Happy New Year!

Over the last year I’ve seen (and felt) the fear around me grow and grow. One of the icky things about being a coach is I get extra sensitive to what other people are feeling, so I can’t get away from it. Scary things are happening. Let’s talk about fear.

I see TWO KINDS OF FEAR.

First there’s the fear of a challenge, of taking a risk and falling on your face. (BTW, I should mention I fell on my face a LOT last year. I made a lot of mistakes.) The consequences of failure may really suck, but they’re in the service of where you want to go.

The other kind of fear is the FEAR THAT STOPS YOU. It doesn’t serve you. It’s the fear I feel every time I read newspaper headlines or watch the news on television. It’s the fear that causes banks to hoard their cash just when it would be in their best interest to start lending again.

That latter kind of fear will keep you poor, small, and miserable.

I’d pay special attention to statements like “I want to do this, but I don’t have the money.” You’ve just made Money the bad guy, a convenient excuse to hide your fear behind. This is how you feed your Money Monster and insult your Money Honey. Making decisions based on fear empowers what you fear.

The biggest shift I made in 2008 was my determination to make choices based on who I want to be, not on who I’ve been. This is the choice of ALL SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE. That choice blew the doors off what I’d ever achieved before–but it really sucked those days when I wasn’t seeing results. My fear and anger almost knocked me out of the game. That’s why I cultivate a good relationship with my Money Honey.

Beware when Fear speaks. It’ll do everything it can to knock you off course. When Fear grips you, your body tenses up and your intelligence goes down. Stuff happens. Sometimes really ugly stuff happens. All you have is how you respond. That’s why I want you to click on this link to learn how to Feel Better Now. Fear is fine; just don’t let it make up your mind for you.

P.S. Mark your calendars for my FINAL Financial Alchemy PREVIEW call on Tuesday, January 13, 5pm pacific. The topic is “Freeing Yourself From Fear.”
